[Email Scam Purporting to be PayPal can be Thwarted with GlowWorm FW]

A GlowWorm FW user forwarded to us an email-based scam he received, as an example of the value of our software. In this email, the PayPal link, although it appears to go to the PayPal website, was actualy linking somewhere else entirely - a web site in Indonesia with a striking resemblance to that of PayPal.

While anyone can easily fall prey to craftily disguised URLs, GlowWorm FW never will. By using the Magic Lists feature of GlowWorm FW, your web browser can be limited to accessing only those web sites that you have authorized. In the case of this scam, GlowWorm FW would have presented an Authorization Alert dialog and your web browser would have had to wait on explicit permission from you before being able to access the web site.

[Viruses to Blame for Child Porn on Family PC]

It has been widely reported (Fox, Fox, ABC, ABC, etc., etc.), the case of Matthew Bandy and the child porn that was found on the family PC. The family hired a computer expert who claimed the computer was riddled with viruses and trojans. Such incidents, where a malicious program opens your computer such that attackers can use it to host illegal content, attack other computers or networks, and steal your personal information - all require network access. This is what GlowWorm FW protects you against.
